Match Report
Tonbridge School 1st XI vs  Berkhamsted School
On: Saturday, 09 Mar 2019
Venue: at Home

Berkhamsted Blues

The XI took the field in good heart, confident of a result back on home turf and for most of the game it looked like that would be the only outcome. Playing with a strong wind, Tonbridge dominated the first half with Tom Tribe nearly opening the scoring in the opening two minutes. For all the pressure, Tonbridge were reluctant to shoot with overplaying in key areas leading to levels of frustration. A tactical shuffle saw Moore enter the pitch for Cocke and soon after Tonbridge took the lead when Tribe headed in from Bailey's excellent delivery. Further chances came and went with Bamford smashing against the post, and the keeper saving well from Moore.

The second half saw Tonbridge play much better, retaining the ball with Adamo, Taylor and Harvey dominating in midfield. The elusive second goal would not come, with Moore's effort harshly ruled out for offside and then the keeper saving impressively from Harvey and Balcombe. An unfortunate slip by Bamford let the centre forward in to score with their first shot of the game and then a deflected cross looped over the hapless Balfour to give Berkhamsted victory in a classic smash and grab performance. Tonbridge need to dig deep and concentrate on their final three matches to prevent this season petering out in a disappointing fashion.
