Match Report
Tonbridge School 2nd XI vs  Eastbourne College
On: Saturday, 08 Jun 2019
Venue: Away

This was an excellent win; we bowled well and backed up this with some good ground fielding and catching, notably from Masding, Lavercombe, Nicholls and Stockhuysen, as well as an early run out. Masding was our best bowler; his consistent line and length meant that he was very hard to get away, and his ten overs leaked only a miserly eight runs, with five maidens. He also bowled Hebron and Wright who had put on over seventy for the fifth wicket, the latter on the stroke of lunch. He was well supported by Lavercombe, Nicholls and Stockhuysen, who took two wickets apiece. Peggie was excellent behind the stumps and was rewarded with a fine stumping.

Our batting was both composed and exciting. The openers saw off a chirpy fielding team and when Tribe started to 'go big' and Dix Perkins joined in we accelerated sharply. Some fine hitting both sides of the wicket was complemented by good running between the wickets. Tribe fell to a miscue, but Geffen came in and batted through for a fifty, playing some great shots especially square of the wicket, cutting and pulling with fluency and power. He survived a couple of missed catches, but deserved his luck. Dix Perkins eventually went for 76, a magnificent innings, and we were home and dry in 24 overs, 22 fewer than the amount used by Eastbourne. Well done all. And we had sun.
